About Oranga Ahurewa
Oranga Ahurewa is a living kaupapa shaped by whakapapa, mātauranga, experience and the understanding that oranga is not something that stands still.
Our foundations come from the knowledge handed down through our tūpuna, together with what we learn through lived experience, practice and continued learning. At the centre of this is our commitment to work in a way that is mā, tika and pono — with clarity and good intent, doing what is right, and being genuine and truthful in the way we conduct ourselves, our relationships and our mahi.
At the heart of Oranga Ahurewa is a simple way of living: know where you come from, building on solid foundations, protecting what is important to you, growing without losing who you are, remaining open to where life takes you, building relationships that strengthen one another, and contributing to the wellbeing of our communities.
As Oranga Ahurewa continues to develop, so too do the ways in which these foundations are expressed — through rongoā Māori, hauora, community mahi, learning, creative development and meaningful collaboration. We remain open to learning alongside others while respecting the knowledge, culture, traditions and differences of all peoples.
What grows from Oranga Ahurewa may change over time but the strong foundations handed down and on which it is built, will always remain.
